Daisetsu Teitaro Suzuki (鈴木 大拙 貞太郎 Suzuki Daisetsu Teitarō; he rendered his name "Daisetz" in ; 18 October – 12 July ) was a Japanese author of books and essays on Buddhism, Zen ()and Shin that were instrumental in spreading interest in both Zen and Shin (and Far Eastern philosophy in general) to the West.- D.T. Suzuki was a Japanese Buddhist scholar and thinker who was the chief interpreter of Zen Buddhism to the West. Suzuki studied at the University of Tokyo. Early in his youth he became a disciple of Sōen, a noted Zen master of the day, and under his guidance attained the experience of satori.
